Star mag’s Jessica Simpson story carries no weight

Star magazine touts on its cover, “How Jess Lost 15lbs in 30 Days!

The article inside then goes on to claim that Jessica Simpson “decided to get back into tip-top shape to prove to ex Tony Romo that she’s better off without him.”

Really?!

According to the tabloid, Simpson “jump-started her weight-loss regimen with a three-day fast and cleanse,” which a so-called “source” says resulted in her dropping five pounds alone.  

Really?!

But when she wasn’t starving herself in order to make a point with Romo – huh? – the Star says Simpson “got help making wiser meal choices from one of her idols, Top Chef’s Padma Lakshmi!” A supposed Simpson “insider” tells the mag, “Padma e-mailed her recipes for items like seared scallops with citrus sauce, stir-fry using olive oil and an eggplant parm with low-cal ricotta and skim mozzarella.”

Gossip Cop is now hungry – hungry for the truth.

So let us shed a little on Star’s facts-starved story. For starters, Simpson’s weight hasn’t fluctuated for a long time. In fact, her rep pounded the Star, telling Gossip Cop that the article is “a complete lie. She didn’t gain or lose weight.”

But how about the diet advice and delicious recipes from Padma Lakshmi? “She has never even met her,” says Simpson’s rep. Gulp.
